Benefits of and Facts about Actively Seeking to Hire and Hiring People with Disabilities*:
The Vocational Rehab Academy (VRA), LLC, is a values-centric business that offers over 20 years' experience, training, and service in changing the lives of people with disabilities, in general, and particularly young adults, Veterans and Servicemembers via employment. Due to those and personal experiences, The Vocational Rehab Academy, LLC, was created. Through educational and engagement activities with employers, we plan to create employment opportunities for and with people with disabilities as it makes "good business sense." However, addressing the needs of potential employers is key to achieving our vision and mission; thus, bringing awareness of how employees with disabilities can positively impact their bottom-line is critical. Below are some benefits:
  • Companies that stand out in terms of disability inclusion were, on average, two to four times more likely to outperform their peers in terms of total shareholder returns.
  • Hiring people with disabilities leads to increases in business performance, levels of innovation, employee productivity, and return on investment via training, market shares, and shareholder values.
  • Employees with disabilities have higher engagement levels and retention rates, leading to up to 30% lower turnover for employers.
  • Additionally, diverse workplaces have been shown to have high workplace morale and better reputations among consumers.
  • People with disabilities are the 3rd largest market group.
  • If a reasonable accommodation is needed for the employees with the disability, more than 50% cost nothing or less than $500.
  • Work Opportunity Tax Credit for some employers.
  • People shop where they feel they are represented.
  • The Total Post-Income Tax of Working-Age People with Disabilities is approximately $490 billion.
  • If just 1% of participation of PWD joined the workforce, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could be increased by $25 billion!
